Tuhaye Park Golf Club.

Tuhaye, Wasatch County, Utah.

Description:

Golf Club.

A complex of seven buildings (Clubhouse, Dining Pavilion, Activity Center, Concierge, Fitness Center, Private Dining Pavilion), set in high mountainous near-desert.

Construction:

All wood interiors and exteriors. Wood stud structure reinforced with steel members. A number of large wooden interior trusses.

Style:

Prairie Shingle. (strongly based on the work of Greene and Greene).

Responsibilities:

Excellence Charter School.

Location:

225 Patchen Ave., Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York.

Description:

A private boys’ elementary school (funded by donors), in a severely blighted area with very poor schools.

The existing building had been derelict for over 30 years, and we had to completely gut it and merge it with the new addition that stands behind it.

Construction:

Existing: loadbearing red brick with brownstone trim.

Addition: Steel frame, block infill with red brick cladding (to match) with cast stone trim.

Style:

Original building (late 1880s) Second Empire Baroque.

Addition (2004) Modern.

Dates worked:

April to December 2004.

Design Phases:

SD to 100% CD.

Responsibilities:

Interior elevations, interior finishes, choosing interior materials. Design of certain interior spaces, including auditorium and library. CAD manager.

University Library and Lecture Halls.

The project was to demolish the stacks at the rear of the original library building (1927, McKim, Mead & White )and replace them with offices, lecture theatres and reading rooms.

Steel frame, clad with red brick. Marble and painted wood trim.

Style:

Neo-classical.

Michael Eisner House

Private house. Based on the concept of a French Provencal village spilling down a hillside.

Studwork reinforced with steel. Clad with 4” limestone veneer. Antique Italian tile roof laid over membrane.

French Provencal. (slightly Spanish Mission)

Hapag Lloyd Head Office, Reconstruction, Hamburg

Speicherstadt, Hamburg.

Description:

The Speicherstadt (literally “warehouse city”) is a fantastic network of late-Victorian Romanesque warehouses built on a river delta adjacent to Hamburg downtown. Our job was to insert a Minimalist office into the most ornate, head warehouse.

Construction:

Steel and glass, cut into heavy timber interior structure.

Style:

Minimalist in Backsteingotik
